Now the main event of the year, the World Taekwondo Championships 2022, is being held in Mexico Guadalajara.
Yesterday’s opening ceremony was attended by 755 athletes from 122 countries, with WT President Cho Jung-won, PATU President Juan Manuel López, and FMTKD President Raymundo González with 5,000 Mexican home spectators.
The opening ceremony marked the start with a performance of a Mexican taekwondo girl, and later athletes and referees from 122 countries entered in turn. Since then, the athletes’ oath of fair play and WT President Cho Jung-won’s opening speech were followed, continued by a welcoming speech by Raymundo González of the Mexican Taekwondo Association.
Since then, the WT demonstration team, which has gained huge popularity around the world through America’s Got Talent, led the performance with the Mexican Poomsae national team in Mexican traditional music.
